Preventative Maintenance (PM)

• The primary goal of maintenance is to avoid or mitigate the consequences of failure of equipment
• the bad guys are getting really good at infecting your pc, deal with them proactively with monthly security updates
• sluggish PC? clean out temp files, “defrag” hard drive...

Included Monthly Procedure (as needed)

• Install Windows security patches
• update java (many website need java to operate)
• update Adobe Flash (many websites use Flash for motion/animation)
• update Adobe Acrobat and the free Acrobat Reader (PDF's have become the most popular file format to infect due to the many vulnerabilities found in Acrobat)
• disc cleanup to delete temp files
• disc defragment to speed up your computer
