DIY Monthly Updates

For you Do-It-Yourselfers, here is a list of recommendations to keep your computer as safe as it can be and run as fast as it can...

• Install Windows security patches
• update.microsoft.com
• update java
  • best to uninstall all old versions
  • java.com
• update Adobe Flash
  • adobe.com
• update Adobe Acrobat and the free Acrobat Reader (PDF's have become the most popular file format to infect)
• open Acrobat or Acrobat Reader and select Help > Check for updates
• disc cleanup to delete temp files
• Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disc Cleanup > check all except Office setup files
• disc defragment to speed up your computer
• Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disc Defragmenter > run it even if it says it is not necessary!!!
